Warner Starting for Giants
A CBS article states that Kurt Warner will be starting over Eli Manning in the Giants' pre-season game. That's not too surprising considering Manning is a rookie, but what really gets to me is the statement that the QBs are pretty equal with Warner getting the nod because of his expereince.
IMO, this cannot be a good sign for the Giants. Warner had about 2 or 3 years of being considered a great QB but that time is long gone. The last couple years he has looked worse than average. I always felt that his greatest strength was in being able to hit his first read. When it came to getting into his progressions, he always lacked the ability to get through them quickly and find an open WR. I am a believer that a rookie QB needs to watch and learn as much as possible his first year as long as the coach realizes the rook needs to see some action to go with his studying. If Manning is already looking a good as Warner, he's not gonna get the chance to be worked into the lineup. To me that's not good. He might end up being good enough that it doesn't hamper his development, but, if I were a Giants fan, I would be very uneasy about this situation. Warner Starting for Giants
Eli should start opening day. I am a think that if he is your future the best way to learn is on the field. Warner has experience, but has been on the bench for a season. The Giants are going nowhere fast and Manning is there best bet at recovery. Peyton threw a lot of int\'s his rookie season, but learned along the way. Maybe best to just throw him in the fire and see what happens. I think he is just as intelligent as Peyton and has all the skills to start right now. Whats the point in waiting. Just slows down his development.

News I\'ve heard out of Giants camp is that Eli looks great - even better than many expected. Apparently he\'s turning even teh naysayers into believers. (heard that on ESPN last night after the Falcons/Ravens game - Mort reported it). The kid\'s gonna be good.

You\'re right - it may well be HYPE. No question about that. Of course, this is ESPN reporting on Manning and not the Giants - that differs greatly from SAINTS HYPE, but...

ESPN also reported the Quincy Carter was in rehab for Cocain...and they later retracted it. Not the Eli won\'t be great, cause he likely will be but, well, you know. :P
