PFF Snapshot: Run Stop Percentage, Linebackers

Not What They Paid For

When the Bengals re-signed Manny Lawson this offseason they were expecting the same solid, all-around outside linebacker that they had a year ago. What they’ve received so far, is little production. The linebacker has yielded little defense in the passing game and so far is the only qualifying linebacker without a stop in the running game. It is not uncommon for outside linebackers to have slightly lower Run Stop Percentages, as running plays ran away from them are nearly impossible for them to stop, but to have no stops in 96 snaps means he is not getting the job done.

Rank Name Team Run Snaps Tackles Assists Missed Tackles Stops Stop %
77 Bradie James HST 103 12 6 1 6 5.8
78 Paul Posluszny JAX 163 22 5 2 9 5.5
79 Vontaze Burfict CIN 112 11 4 1 6 5.4
80 Mychal Kendricks PHI 145 11 5 4 7 4.8
81 Jameel McClain BLT 146 14 3 3 7 4.8
82 Joe Mays DEN 131 9 8 1 6 4.6
83 Michael Boley NYG 112 10 0 1 5 4.5
84 Quincy Black TB 76 6 0 0 3 3.9
85 Mathias Kiwanuka NYG 64 6 1 2 2 3.1
86 Scott Shanle NO 94 6 3 1 2 2.1
87 Akeem Jordan PHI 51 5 0 0 1 2.0
88 Nick Roach CHI 64 3 2 2 1 1.6
89 Will Herring NO 62 3 1 2 1 1.6
90 Rocky McIntosh SL 88 4 0 2 1 1.1
91 Manny Lawson CIN 96 5 1 1 0 0.0

Chart looks easier on the eyes here.

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege.

All little common sense goes a long way.

Not to threadjack because our LB suckage is worth harping on, but anyone care to guess which DE ranks #1 in the NFL versus the run?

You guessed it, Cam Jordan.

I still say until Vilma is not rusty.. at least a full week of practice in pads at full speed he could do worse.

I've read reports saying he's faster and in better shape than he's been in several years. And since I read it on the internet it must be true!
