METAIRIE, La. — It’s not that you can call Martez Wilson prophetic.
More like a dreamer, one who saw a future and found a way to make it happen.

Nearly a decade ago, in a middle school classroom in Illinois, a young Wilson meandering through a life in the projects of Chicago had a dream.

“My teachers used to tell you write down what you want to be five or 10 years from now,” Wilson said. “I said, 'I’m going to be in the NFL.' ”

He added, “And I’m in the NFL.”

Indeed, he is.

Good for him. Good success story. NOW, if he can adjust to this temporary paycheck in the NFL and not support family, friends, assocaiate with those in the hood, etc., and just live very moderately , invest in his retirement and not dumb things like car dealerships and restaurants, ok.
I saw on NFL network last week a good show about life after football. Something like that. It showed so many players broke . Nothing. In debt even. No basic retirement investments like 401K, CD's, annunities. Back to the hood. they invested in crazy things or high risk like restaurnats, car dealerships, clubs, lived in homes like say, Tom Cruise, and it was something interesting to watch..
