Have dealt with e-mail evidence in a courtroom (DOJ, FINRA, & SEC) and there are only 1-2 formats that are acceptable due to possible tampering. If the league doesn't provide or have the messages in the correct format for the court they can and will get thrown out as evidence for/against the players.

Same here. Run infrastructure for 3 state & local government agencies and email archive requests can blow a house of cards down in seconds.

I've seen public records requests for emails shatter careers, put people in jail and end marriages.

This email is a teaser - the response to the email from the NFL to Cerullo probably exonerates Vilma and collapses the bubble around the NFL.
