offense can survive a short time without him. Defense is still the big problem. Couldn't win even with sproles in the line up.

A source close to Darren Sproles tells Profootballtalk.com that Sproles (hand surgery) could return to game action as soon as Week 10.
The timeline just keeps getting more and more positive on Sproles, whose hand fracture and subsequent surgery apparently weren't anything major. Sproles has been ruled out for Monday Night Football, and the Saints say they will update his status early next week. Sproles has not missed a game since the 2007 season.
