Just more favoritism in the NFL
Reportedly, the NFL didn't want to set a precedent by allowing a coaches' job status to be tied to that of another team employee. However, the NFL has allowed at least one similar clause in the past -- when Payton's mentor, Bill Parcells, had an escape clause as an executive with the Miami Dolphins in the event of an ownership change. Re: Poison pill in Payton’s contract may have been a buffer against LeBlanc
For the longest time I gave Rita all the credit for turning the Saints around.(and Payton too of course) I felt like she influenced Benson in all major facets of the company including how he thought about raising revenue. He used to have a used car mentality and would sell off his good players. Then he started opening his check book and bringing in talent. He's about to make Payton the highest paid coach. These days I'm not so sure that she has that much influence..

Being the coach of the team does not preclude sleeping with the boss's daughter. In fact, it means you're a real, real good coach.
