Saints RB Ivory hopes he earned more action
Chris Ivory doesn't know why he didn't get his first chance to carry the ball until the eighth game of the season.
The Saints running back figured the best thing he could do during the first seven weeks of the season was simply stay sharp and focused, so that he could be relied upon when his number finally was called. ''I still don't get it. I just played the patient role,'' Ivory said on Wednesday after logging 10 carries for 48 yards - nearly 5 yards a carry - including a 22-yard touchdown in New Orleans 28-13 victory over Philadelphia on Monday night. ''It was hard to be patient but, you know, I was. ... When they needed to count on me, I was accountable. The focus was definitely there, and like I said, once they called my number I was ready to go. Saints RB Ivory hopes he earned more action - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN |

I hope he gets used a lot this week against the falcons. Running effectively agaainst them will be key to lighting up the scoreboard. I'd like to see Ivory get somewhere around 8 to 10 carries depending on who has the hot hand.

Re: Saints RB Ivory hopes he earned more action
The issue simply is we have to many running backs! Thomas,Sproles,Ivory,Ingram, not to mention Cadet. I think we'd have much more success using less but who do you cut?!?!
I believe Ivory won a spot after the Iggles game and I still have faith in Ingram but I think he'll only be great if he gets majority of the carries which won't happen. I say we trade Ingram, trade Cadet, keep Thomas,Sproles, and Ivory (in that order). |

If Ingram keeps playing like he did last week we should get some good value for him. Personally, I'd like to keep Ingram and feature him then we can put Sproles and PT in the same back field or rotate them in and keep everyone fresh. |

I say use him more. It seems like he runs harder then Ingram does, although he does have a fumble problem from time to time.

Re: Saints RB Ivory hopes he earned more action
I think Ivory earned the opportunity to play. I am shocked myself that it took this long to get him in a game. I would love to see Ivory and Ingram pound the ball down the Falcons throats on Sunday. Wear the Falcons down with a great power running game, let Thomas and Cadet get their chances too and it should be a great Sunday.
Yes, the Saints do have too many running backs, but that is a good problem to have. Now, if they can stuff the run down opponents throats, and Brees only has to pass the ball say like 25-30 times per game, then perhaps that magical winning streak can happen and the Saints could find themselves in the playoffs, and maybe even be hosting the wild card game. |
