7 Bold Second-Half NFL Predictions for 2012
I agree with the winning record part, but barring a major collapse from 2-3 teams, I seriously doubt 9-7 will get ANY team in the NFC a wild-card berth!
The New Orleans Saints will have a winning record The schedule is daunting, but the Saints (3-5) are playing their best football at the right time. Winners of three out of the last four, Who Dat nation is feeling cautiously optimistic about the second half. Yes, the Falcons (twice), 49ers and Giants are on the schedule, but two of those come at home. The coaching staff and defense are beginning to finally settle in after Bounty Gate and Replacement-a-palooza and Drew Brees is back carving up defenses. He leads the NFL in passing yards and should keep his team in every game. Every game is a must-win for New Orleans from here on out, but they should be favored against Oakland, Carolina, Tampa Bay and Dallas. A 2-2 mark against the big boys — SF, NYG and ATL — could give the Saints a 9-7 record and a potential Wild Card bid. Seven bold predictions for the rest of the NFL season |

I don't think this is a bold prediction but the Falcons will NOT get home field advantage through out the playoffs

Re: 7 Bold Second-Half NFL Predictions for 2012
After Seattle beat Minnesota and Green Bay beat Arizona I agree it appears 10-6 is the requirement.
The only exception is if San Francisco sweeps Seattle again and wins in Seattle but whose to say Seattle can't win in Miami to balance that. Packers would have to lose to the lions and the vikings once. Vikings will not beat the packers for nothing so its looking like 10-6 for GB. But can the bears collapse? They lose lets say to Houston and SF to get 3 losses, lose in Minnesota to get 4 and in Zona for 5. Seattle would have to win in Chicago week 13. But given the trends of the bears/lions and 49ers/cardinals division series since 2003, they have all split the same year or swept. Until last year for seven straight seasons those series each resulted in a sweep. 49ers very well could have the 2 seed locked up if they win in Seattle, and if bears lose those games. If 49ers rest against cards, lions could beat bears. But what are the chances Seattle loses both road games to Miami and Chicago and Bears collapse? With that said if we at least split with falcons we can get 10 wins. The 9 days vs 5 days rest against the giants could play a big role. |

Re: 7 Bold Second-Half NFL Predictions for 2012
Well guess what football is complicated. As a wannabe analyst I break stuff down. I examine matchups, I look at recent history, the emotion level of division rivalries. That is why I say there is a chance. One player does not make a team, thats why teams can win regardless of who they play but its always down to one thing that wins or loses...........the ability to want to win, overcoming the battle test. Its easy to see why Cutler gets rattled when he plays superior defenses and it shows how he emotionally hasnt matured as a quarterback. I'm sorry maybe my way of predicting games is odd, but games are not won based on talent. There's more to it.

I don't see any reason why they won't. Nobody has stopped them so far. As much as I hate to admit it they are good. Still think they are one and done in the playoffs, but it does seem to be their year.

NFL owners unanimously pass "The Falcon Rule". If a team fails to score more than 2 points in a playoff game they are ineligable for one year from the post season.
