Chris Ivory has another chance to shine on Sunday against Falcons
On Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles New Orleans Saints running back Chris Ivory had the game he had been waiting on. On Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons, he can make another statement to see a more permanent spot in the lineup.
Of course credit the Saints with keeping five running backs which some thought was an impossible move going into the regular season. It was considered to not be feasible since most teams barely keep three active in the backfield. But after being snake-bit by injuries during the 2010-2011 season, the Saints learned their lesson and made sure to keep a steady stable of running backs on hand in the future. Ivory, who was the forgotten man until last Monday, showed he still had what it took to pound the football and move with some speed as well. Against the Eagles he had 10 carries for 48 yards and broke one run off for 22 yards for a touchdown. The good news for Ivory, as well as fellow backs Pierre Thomas and Mark Ingram, is that the Falcons current rushing defense is ranked 25th in the NFL. Good news in that the Eagles had the 16th ranked rushing defense in the NFL and the Saints were able to run the ball effectively on them. Ingram had his best game of the season against the Eagles and could see some benefits going up against the Falcons as well. But it’s Ivory who will need to show that he can not only be counted on when his number is called, but be consistent as well Chris Ivory has another chance to shine on Sunday against Falcons |

I'm looking for a BIG performance out of Ivory and Ingram this weekend. Hell, I'm looking for a great performance out of everybody. Anything less is unacceptable.

Its clear to me that way too many Ivory supporters hate on Ingram, while most Ingram supporters like both. |

If Ivory would have played every game, at worst the Saints would be 5-3. He's a difference maker in the run game.

Re: Chris Ivory has another chance to shine on Sunday against Falcons
I thought trading draft picks etc. to move up and get Ingram was a waste of picks. Two years later, nothing has changed my opinion. This article talks about Ivory having to prove himself? Having to be more consistent? This, while Ingram, a second year player has done nothing except that he can gain 2 yards a carry? Ingram was handed the job without having to prove himself. Why does Ivory need to prove himself again? Because he had some fumbles in TC and in practice? I have yet to see him fumble this season in a game that means something. Ivory is the 2nd fastest back on the team and the most powerful. Everyone wants to say that he's injured all the time? Well no more than PT or Ingram. After his surgery last year he's been healty from that point to now so enough with the made of glass comments. When we won the Super Bowl, we had a back that ran a lot like Ivory, maybe you remember him, Mike Bell? He got hurt a lot running like that too, but still made the contributions needed for us to win the Super Bowl. I've been calling for Ivory since the beginning of the season and had we used him earlier, I believe that our record would be a lot different. I just hope it's not too late to save our season and the reality is that we need Ivory to do that. I even didn't watch a game because they wouldn't activate Ivory and play him, cause I'm sick of watching Ingram miss pass protections, run the wrong way and not show any sense of urgency or power in his running. I can't wait to see what Ivory is going to do to Atl. Sunday. They think they're ready, but they're not.

Get him on the field and let him do his thing!
I really like Ivory and he should be given the ball a lot more and he should be allowed to show what he can do! The guy always does the best he can for the Saints!!!! No one can ask more than that of a player! GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!!! |

It's pathetic it took Sproles getting hurt to get Ivory on the field. It seems that he is the spark that got things going. I don't hate the Ingram pick and he and Ivory would make a good tandam but Ingram is not a feature back to where Ivory could be a 20 to 30 times a game and have really good results.

Re: Chris Ivory has another chance to shine on Sunday against Falcons
Okay, now that we have him playing, Mr. Carmichael, can you figure out a way to get someone ELSE the ball when Ivory is in? You ran him off-right-tackle EVERY time last game. Can we mix it up a bit or this experiment will FAIL.
Ingram was just allowed to fall into a predictable rut and that's HIS only problem. Alaska |
