Our Offense...
First let me say it was a huge win, I cant stop smiling and Its awesome the falcons still can't beat us but;
Our offense Has to do better in the 4th quarter we scored 3 points in the 4th quarter whilst the falcons scored 10, you want to blame the defense, I think its a dead arguement at the minute because our offense went 3 and out about 5 times in the second half we had a 3rd and 2, very easy to convert because the falcons got absolutely no pressure.....devery henderson drops a 2 yard pass We had numerous opportunites to put this game away, but we kept punting it back to the falcons, then jimmy graham catches a 46 yard pass, and we can't score in the redzone, which means brees throws it into triple coverage I loved it that we stuck to the run, but once again we got very predictable, ATL knew what was coming because I did. Our defense won this game twice at the end, great plays in the redzone we always become stout down there with our backs against the wall HUGE WIN!! |

Re: Our Offense...
Agreed. Great win, but we sat on the ball just as we did against Tampa Bay. Players are getting it done (aside from some drops) when they are given the opportunity, but the play calling keeps getting vanilla when we could be nailing the coffin shut.

Re: Our Offense...
He threw it into triple coverage and hit Colston right in the hands. A lot of the problems that people want lay on Brees are receiver issues. Colston should have caught that. If he had we wouldn't have been sweating out the last two minutes.

Re: Our Offense...
As close as we were to our own goal line at the end of the game I kinda wonder why we wouldn't run a QB sneak on first down. Its an easy way of getting 1-3 yards and just a little space to move, all Brees would have to do is basically just fall forward, it hits so much faster than a regular run play.

But that said, I don't think anyone would blame drew if we had lost. Again, the playcalling was vanilla down the stretch. That's all on coaching. |

Re: Our Offense...
Ah nuts! The fact he got his hands on that pass in that coverage was amazing. We have to stop dropping crossing routes that should go for easy short yardage pickup and first downs. Ran the ball well throughout the game when needed and didn't fumble which was huge. Turnovers were a wash and in a close game at home that is paramount!

Re: Our Offense...
It wasn't "triple coverage" as much as 3 players converged on the pass.
Probably a planned timeing pass. Drew threads the needle and puts the ball in the only place a receiver can catch it whether 1 defender is there or 10. That's the luxury of having Drew. |

Re: Our Offense...
I won't knock Colston for that because he's one of the toughest players in the league. But the fact is that you ARE expected to catch those. Especially when it could be the game clinching play. Criticizing Brees for that pass is ridiculous.
