Saints/Falcons=80s to 90's Saints/49ers

The Saints since 2006 are 11-2 against the Falcons. It seems that our rivalry with them is becoming just like the old Saints/49ers rivalry except we are in the roll of the Niners and they are the Saints. The Falcons remind me so much of the late 80's/early 90's Saints. They have a good regular season and blow it in the first game of the playoffs. The Saints had a similar season the Falcons are having this year back in 1991 when they started out 7-0 before losing the first game. It was the Falcons who ended that year for us. The Falcons started this year 8-0 before losing their first game. Could we see history repeating itself and the Saints and Falcons end up in the Wild Card game?

Were the Saints better competition for the whiners than the FalcAints are for the Saints?

for the Falcons to be in the wildcard, I would have to think 2 teams need to finish with better records and tie breakers.

Chicago?

But then who else? San Fran? Doubt it.

We always seemed to run them close, but they won out at the end.

49ers were a very very good team then. Pain in the backside, but very good.

Most of the games 49ers games were not even close. Not being embarrassed, if we could do that it was a victory. I see your point but the Falcons have faired a much better opponent than us against the 49ers. This is going off of memory, I'm not looking up the scores. Too painful to go back.

I don't even want to remember the games with the 49ers in the past. There was no point in even watching them back then. Lord, it was uhgly!

The 49ers team from that time frame had Joe Montana(hall of famer) and Steve Young(I don't know if he made it into the hall of fame). Now the Saints have Drew Brees another Hall of famer.
Coincidence? I think not!
