This reminds me of the Jets game in 2009. Best defense ever, and a ok SF offense with a 31st pass defense OL, base on the run game.
ID say a little of both. |

Defense.
Because it's always our defense. |

Both sides. The defense is gonna have to bottle up Frank Gore, Vernon Davis and Crabtree along with what ever Kapernic can do. The offense will be battling one of the tougher defenses in the league. The 9ers have a good line and solid linebackers. They can get after the QB.
On paper it seems the 9ers have the edge. But our team usually plays up to the competition. We better generation turnovers. |

I think the defense is going to have the toughest time, but like jnormand said, the Saints 'play-up' to the competition, plus they're at home ... home-cookin' does a body good.

Re: Which Saints unit will have a tougher time vs 49ers
Excellent question. Last time we met our offense struggled mightily until we fell 3 scores behind, and our defense played well except the 1st quarter and the last 5 minutes.
I suspect we'll see much of the same. Our offense and defense both struggle for stretches but all in all it'll be on par with what we've seen the last several games. To win, our offense will have to score at least 28, and our defense will have to keep them under 28 to win. Saints under 28, Offensive failure. 49'er over 28, Defensive failure. |

It pains me to say this because I truely love a stout D, our D. Brees finds ways to score.

Your offense will probably have a little tougher time because our D is so good. But your offense with Brees and the weapons is good enough to be effective against anybody.

I want to say the defense, but because of injuries to Strief and Brown, I am leaning more towards the offense.
However, if their replacements can keep Brees vertical and clean, then I think the Saints will will big! Being a home game helps the Saints a lot; I say 38-17 Saints. |
