Re: Do we still have a shot?
I have to moderately disagree - we DID lose ground today.
1) This morning we needed Seattle, Minnesota and Tampa Bay to drop a game. Now we need these three teams to lose another game AND we need the Cowboys and Redskins to lose another game. 2) We have ZERO margin for error now. Anything less than a 5 game winning streak means we are out. 3) There are only 5 games left were we can get the help needed in #1 |

Re: Do we still have a shot?
They are pretty much in the same position no? Have you watched the Cowboys and Vikings play? They are garbage! I agree that we need to win out but I was pretty much at that mindset already. All I am saying is that we still have a chance, just like it was just a chance before today.

Re: Do we still have a shot?
Mathematically, yes. With the 3 teams ahead of us all losing today, we're basically in the same shape we were last week.
Realistically... Well, in my opinion, sadly...no. Our offense is confoundingly inconsistent, and that, I'm afraid will be our downfall going down the stretch. Time and time again they had chances to not only get back in the game, but take it over. San fran's d was beginning to crack and a playoff caliber team would have taken advantage. And don't get me started on the pick 6's. Granted, one wasn't entirely brees' fault, but good lord the one before half..just unforgivable. I'm all for taking chances when the potential reward is worth it, like that amazing td throw to colston..but that one, so not worth it... Sorry, I'm venting. Just really upset with our offense today as a whole.. I place this one squarely on their shoulders. Defense gave up their fewest yards all season and only allowed 17 points. Offense gives up 14 and only gets 21.. 7 of which probably wouldn't have happened if ginn doesn't fumble that punt. I just don't see this years offense being able to come up big when they need to. And though the defense is definitely improving, they won't suddenly become dominant this year, and that's about what it would take. Really hope I'm wrong on all this. Maybe this one is still too fresh for me and I'm not thinking clearly.. but I really felt like we had to win this one in order to make a serious run... I'm gonna go drown my sorrows now |

Re: Do we still have a shot?
Up until today, our O has not been inconsistent. We looked out of whack and I totally blame it on trying to feed 4 rb's. No consistency, it was almost to the point it was earlier in the year. Ingram runs once, he comes out. Ivory runs 1 maybe 2 times, he comes out. PT has done NOTHING with the touch's he gets. We need to get back to what we were doing. I think Carmichael out game planned himself. Get back to what got us here.

Re: Do we still have a shot?
Well, yes and no. If we stop getting all full of ourselves and put our heads down and really concentrate we can get to the playoffs. However that will take the coaches to stop being so hard headed and the players learning how to tackle. We used to think we could lose two more games and still make it, but realistically there's no way we can lose another and still make it.

Re: Do we still have a shot?
They don't consistently score points or even sustain long drives. Even in the games we've won and scored a fair amount of points in there have been a lot of 3 and outs, or drives that stall far outside of even field goal range. Maybe inconsistent isn't the right word, considering the fact that they haven't ever been really dominant to begin with this year. Even against Oakland I think they left a lotta points on the field.. ultimately my point remains the same. I don't believe this years offense is good enough to take us to the playoffs

If we don't get out patchwork o-line fixed by Thursday night, no.
