And do you think the Falcons can stop Gore?

Its not about that, its the fact that the falcons will be at home in the NFCCG under this scenario. Thats a big deal. Not only that, but in that game a home team is gonna play a lot better. And Atlanta's defense has beaten every mediocre qb especially at home. I hope SF beats them too(because there is no way Jim is beating John or Kaepernick beating Manning) but just the intangibles about this game or the emotion of being one game away from the sb at home in a dome.

Re: Saints vs falcants (Official Game Day Thread)

remember when the falcons had home field advantage in divisional's against the packers?
the falcons don't have a realistic chance against any of the other NFC div champs...maybe the bears if they win the north, but they'd get murdered by the packers. i don't see the falcons o-line standing up the giants monster d front or the 49ers for that matter. nor could they contain the 49ers rushing attack.

Our playoff chances have not gone down the drain. We're getting a long week coming up while the giants have to go to Washington and get five days rest. All it takes is to win that game and things can change. Seattle is looking at 9-7 and maybe worse if they lose their corners. As long as giants beat redskins and not let eagles win last game they're 10-6 and redskins will end up 8-8. Bucs have to go to Denver and face the broncos defense and us in the SD. Did we already get our annual blowout against them? Its not over. When we lose a 8th game then its over.

To many of the people here tonight, what you're saying is going to sound like the nonsensical trombone WAH WAH WAH WAH whenever grown-ups are talking to the kids in the Peanuts TV specials. They don't wanna hear it. It's not over yet, but they want so hard for the Saints to fail and they want so badly to say "I told ya so" that they won't even listen to reality. Did this game suck? Yes. Was it the end of the line? No.

the ONLY thing I will give the Falcons credit for-- the only thing EVER perhaps -- is that they were keyed in on "The Streak" and they were protecting the end zone against the pass all night long. The INT in the end zone, they saw that one coming...look at the passes at the end of the first half and see how many Falcons are in the end zone, behind the play. They took away the end zone and particularly the back of the end zone, and then all that was left for the pass was short of the goal line or the screen to Ingram (the one where he stumbled and it kinda didn't work.) Great strategy to frustrate the Saints in the red zone. They knew what Carmichael was gonna do, and the longer the game went on the worse it got. I'm surprised nobody had done it to us sooner.

Big reason the Saints loss that game was Brees obsession with scoring a td and extending his streak. Very me me player.

GO FALCONS!

First off, let me correct one thing I said. I meant ONE OF the worst games I've ever seen a Saints qb play. Not the worst. And that is not about to be a lie. How many 5 INT games do you remember? And with these weapons? Yes there were two bad drops, and I did mention that earlier in this thread. I'm not letting them off the hook. But Brees was awful beyond comprehension. Not just the INTS, but he was constantly late or behind on almost every pass. There have been times where he has thrown 3 or 4 picks and I thought it was just as much the receivers fault, but not tonight. This was a despicable performance, and it spoiled a warriors effort by our defense.

Lately, we've been bragging about their bend but don't break type of play, but tonight they dominated. The Falcons amassed virtually their entire offensive output by the 14 minute mark of the second quarter. After that, they were great. Drew has no excuses for this one. PT ran great, his line held up about as well as they can, and that's all you can ask of them. The drops were one thing, and they hurt, but that was just a couple plays. The penalty on Graham wouldn't have mattered if Drew hadn't run us out of time by calling a huddle and then throwing the ball short. They couldn't stop us at all. We simply got beat by poor clock management on that drive.

Consider that, please.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.

Just the sort of logic I expect from a Falcons fan... Brees obsession with scoring TDs.. Except Brees does not call the plays.

Carmicheal was throwing because we played the entire game from behind and the Falcons have pulled a lot of games out of their azzes in the 4th qtr this season and we could not afford to go into the 4th qtr behind.

Where is all your frikken brilliance on why you lost to us a few weeks ago?

yea, didnt think so.
