Butler's Breakdown: Packers vs. Saints
by LeRoy Butler, Special to Packers.com posted 08/20/2004 With the Saints in town for the second preseason game, look for the Packers to get an in-depth look at some of their newest talent in the secondary. The Saints will run a moderate version of the West Coast offense. They like to take their shots down the field with receivers Joe Horn and Donte' Stallworth. They also have a very good tight end with Boo Williams. This will be a good chance for the Packers' veterans and young guys to come in and do well. Aaron Brooks is a very capable quarterback. Before moving to New Orleans, he spent the 1999 season in Green Bay watching and learning from Brett Favre. When Brooks first arrived in New Orleans, he was trying to lead his receivers because he has such a strong arm. If you notice, although Brett has a strong arm, he has a lot of touch on his passes. He gives his receivers a chance because he is patient in the pocket. For a while, Brooks would go through one or two progressions and then he would take off running. But the last couple of years he's been very patient in the pocket and has had over 3,500 passing yards each of the last three seasons. And I even thought that he should have been in the Pro Bowl a couple of years ago before he had the shoulder injury. Read More |

LeRoy Butler Packers vs. Saints Breakdown
\"This Saints team is a very good team and the Packers will have to be on top of their game Saturday night. Each year they start fast but they don\'t finish. They have always faltered in December.\"
Aside from the end of this opinion... I like what Butler has to sya in regards to ou offense. With teh addition of Boo, in terms of TE importance, we should be improved. Now we have a thereat in the middle to dispell some Cover 2 schemes. p.s. I respected Bulter when he played... So I repsect his comments now. AB is good enough to win games, but even Butler says it edpends on the play action. Balance on offense...??? balance in the blame too??? |

LeRoy Butler Packers vs. Saints Breakdown
Good article Gumbo, way to scout the other team for us. I thought this poll from the Packers fans was interesting so I decided to post it for ya:
Who do you expect to win Saturday night\'s game? Packers by 7 or more 52% Packers by less than 7 25% Saints by less than 7 6% Saints by 7 or more 14% Votes: 7,467 By the way, I voted for the Saint\'s by 7 or more. It just goes to show you how the Packers fans are just as loyal to their team as we are. |
