New Orleans Saints throttle Tampa Bay Buccaneers 41-0
The New Orleans Saints snapped their three-game losing streak in emphatic fashion Sunday with a 41-0 throttling of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
It was the Saints' first shutout since Dec. 24, 1995 when they blanked the Jets 12-0. Quarterback Drew Brees ended his mini-slump with a four-touchdown, 307-yard effort against the Buccaneers, who entered the game with the worst pass defense in the NFL. The victory gives the Saints (6-8) a chance at finishing the season with a .500 record, still a disappointing record for a team that entered the season coming off of three consecutive playoff appearances.
