Orlando Ruff wants to make the team...
Ruff looked pretty good. A couple of those tackles were on special teams, and he still looks pretty slow out there. I don\'t think that a spot on the team is in jeopardy for him - he\'ll make the squad even if Cie is healthy (which I doubt he will be).

It\'s just the preseason, but I like what he did last night. The starting linebackers are going to change 20 times in our minds before opening day, but I do think Haz will end up starting the best three then.

Ruff: Big and slow. A good run stopper but not so as a pass defender. Cie Grant is so versatile but unless his injuries allow him to play he may be gone. The fact that the Saints drafted Courtney Watson in the first place tells you how much (or how little) faith they have in Grant. Speed kills and Grant has it...but it\'s worthless on the sideline.

Maybe, just maybe Haz will move Watson to weakside and let Ruff play 1st and 2nd down and Grant can play on 3rd down. This will provide the much needed speed during the obvious passing downs and the run stuffer we need on 1st and 2nd down. Also, this will limit plays for Grant and allow him to heal more between games. If his knees are going to be a constant problem, then he needs to play through it and we need to find a way to get him on the field when he\'s most needed.
