Re: Saban to N.O.
I don't want Saban, regardless of anything that happens with Payton. I can see where Nick would have interest in us, but I don't think the feeling would be mutual. Saban is suited for college ball. You get to be hands on in recruiting who you want, with no worries about money. All you need is for players to sign a letter of intent. And kids who are fresh out of highschool tend to have much more respect for their coaches, because they know they have to fly straight and prove themselves if they want a chance at the NFL.
But once players get to the NFL, many of them get complacent and disrespectful, thinking they're now entitled. So as a coach, you no longer have free reign on who you get to play for you, and your players are much harder to manage. It takes a truly special coach and organization to establish consistency in this league. Saban had his chance, and proved he couldn't handle it. All that said, I can't imagine Sean Payton is dumb enough to leave what he has built. Where is he gonna go? We see people jump from college to the NFL all the time, but once you're in the NFL and you've established success, how do you go up from there? |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
