Greg McMahon Has Got To Go!!!
Why is our special teams coach Greg McMahon still here? He has been absolutely terrible. When we brought in Sproles he elevated the rest of the special teams. We've got Thomas Morestead for kick offs and punts doing a phenomenal job. But it still doesn't mean that we are well coached. Our kicker is a head case and that might be a result of McMahon and not knowing how to coach him up. That seems to fall to Payton, he's the only one I've seen coach him.

Re: Greg McMahon Has Got To Go!!!
Heard that he and Payton are old school buddies, going way back.
Prob has something to do with the patience that has been demonstrated at his inability to do his job to the level of some of the other ST coaches around the league. It just seems to me that we never demonstrate great blocking or tackling for any kick or punt returns, offensively or defensively. When's the last time somebody took one back to the house from a offensive standpoint? Feels like its been awhile |

Morestud and Roby are the rocks on the that side of special teams. Hartley is still a head case, just hasn't been in the spotlight this year. Special teams had a terrible game two back, but it's not the norm.

They coverage unit has always blown. It's shocking that every year we go and sign other teams ST aces and we still aren't good there. It is the norm... and has been for years.

Re: Greg McMahon Has Got To Go!!!
As Shoe pointed out, he and Payton are old school buddies, going waaaaay back to Eastern Illinois days, I believe.
I've grown used to the fact that the Saints under Payton casually roll into Sundays wildly unprepared on special teams, a sloppy, uncoordinated mess with one or two flashes of brilliance -- it's just how we roll, yo. Great personel in Roby, Morstead, Sproles, Quddus, Cadet -- player by player I'd put our special teams as superior to any unit in the league, except maybe San Francisco -- but terrible usage of them. But when they come up big, they DO come up big. |

Bring Back Bobby! (Bobby April)
Though the players failed in its execution (or maybe that's exactly what they did to the play) the Eagles Lateral Kickoff Return is the kind of things that we could use for an add'l edge in games... |
