this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I think we will definetly keep at least 6 receivers on the roster and maybe 1 on the ps: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/footb...aints/home.htm...

Receivers five or six?
yeah, I don\'t know how this is going to play out but either Black or Lewis will go to the practice squad. Gardner is gone to inconsistant and I haven\'t seen him impress me in camp. Black has and D. Lewis has a bit more speed. Nathan Black will complement out wr corps. as a posesion type WR.

I read that Gardner can\'t be placed on the PS so it looks like these 6...
Horn Stall Pathon Henderson M.Lewis Gardner Practice squad... Black Cook How about a trade for a back-up CB now that Craver\'s history? It would probably have to be Pathon. He\'s the only one with enough trade value to get a good CB. Derrick Lewis then makes the team as #6. |

also they have to clear waivers... I don\'t think D. Lewis will clear waivers without someone picking him up. Black may slip under the radar but I wounldn\'t risk it. I would rather cut Gardner he really hasn\'t had a good camp and no improvement from last year. He has a good number of drops in camp.

actually i believe that the reciever with the most trade potential is gardener the guy has size speed is only in his 2nd season and has a world of potential... most teams look for guys like him and if he was released or placed on PS he would be picked up in a heartbeat... so that also tells me that he would have good trade value

Gardner\'s not eligible for the PS.
But you are right. There probably are GM\'s that have their eye on this kid. I\'d hate to give up on him but we have an excess at WR and a deficit at LB/CB. Who needs a WR that has an excess of CB\'s and LB\'s... Ravens??? |

Player for player trades are pretty rare. And those times it usually does happen, it\'s usually higher profile guys.
I\'ll betcha not too many GMs have their eye on Gardner. I don\'t know why they would. At least not any more than a lot of other wideouts that haven\'t proved too much around the NFL. Let me ask you this: If you were a GM would you be chomping at the bit to sign Garder? I wouldn\'t. And I wouldn\'t be expecting much out of him if I did sign him. |

You\'d think I suggested trading Gardner for Ray Lewis. :casstet: |
