Brooks to sit until season opener
Idled by a strained quadriceps that he re-aggravated Saturday at Green Bay, Brooks now faces the prospect of missing the team's final two exhibition games: Friday at Chicago and Sept. 3 against Miami. Brooks missed practice Monday and is listed as doubtful for the Bears game, Saints coach Jim Haslett said. Back-up Todd Bouman is expected to start in Brooks' place against Chicago. Barring a quick recovery, Brooks might have to play the regular-season opener against Seattle on Sept. 12 with 25 plays and 3 ½ series of exhibition work under his belt. Not good.
Not smart to not start JT and see what he can do against 1st team defense though. |

I agree, we should find out what JT can do.
On that note, is it just me or is JT kind of small? Is he actually a tiny guy, or did he just look like he was? |

I actually agree with this move, Brooks need to be healthy and there is no sense risking further injury at this point.
I know you guys are not going to agree with me on this, but I\'m going to say it anyway: Start Bouman against the Bear\'s and let him play the first quarter, let JT play the second and whomever does the best let them play the entire second half and game four to prepare for the first regular season game, just in case Brooks is not ready. This will end the controversy over Bouman or JT being the #2 man. |

Out of curiosity, what will Brooks practice work be like between now and the season opener?

I don\'t think it\'s a good thing that Brooks isn\'t going to play the rest of the preseason. I would think there would be some timing problems between him and the receivers.
He says he can still throw the ball and run around some without too much discomfort. Hopefully, he\'ll get plenty of reps in practice leading up to the Seattle game. We REALLY need to win the Seattle game. I think that\'s a statement game for the Saints. It would be a big confidence booster. IF Bouman or O\' Sullivan had to play the Seattle game, I don\'t think we could win it. |

Word is he is going to throw some tomorrow and continue to rest the injury. The team is hopeful he can at least see limited action against Miami. Whatever that means.
