Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
Profootballtalk reports that the Bears are "currently interviewing" Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. for the team's head-coaching vacancy on Wednesday night.
Here's a new name to add to the hat. Carmichael Jr. has been with the Saints and Sean Payton since 2006, while he's held the OC job since 2009 when he replaced current Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone. Marrone is another hot name around the head-coaching market this week. The Saints finished No. 2 in total offense in 2012 and have finished No. 1 overall four times in the seven seasons Carmichael has been involved. Chicago is clearly seeking an offensive-minded coach to take over the team. Source: Profootballtalk on Twitter |

We get the mastermind back next year anyway, not really worried...

Buh bye, don't let the door hitcha where the good lord splitcha.

Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
Wow... Totally shocked by some of the responses on here. While I thought his play calling was bad at critical times this year and he under-used PT, he's one of us. Carmichael is a big part of the offensive machine.
Good Luck Pete. May you find what you are looking for. |
Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
Cutler needs more life insurance.
|
Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
I don't care if he leaves or not. But in my opinion its a bad move on his part. The Bears have NEVER been know for a strong offensive mindset. Defense wins games for them. He goes there he's hands will be cuffed and in the long run he'll look bad.
But by all means show the world what you can do for 2 years.... before they fire you |
Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
Im not worrried about loosing him as i dont think he stepped up to the plate this year.
If he gets it,good luck to him. |
Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
The only reason Carmicheal looks so good is because he has been working with Brees and (most importantly) Payton.
With out SP he couldn't even control the offence either. If Chicago hires him I think two things will happen- Cutler wont be able to replicate what Carmcheal has done under SP with Brees (Cutler is a whiney bandaid) and he'll get fired. |
Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
Carmichael is, and Marrone WAS nothing but a clipboard holder for Payton. Sean designs the plays, calls the plays, and his "offensive coordinators" just relay the message to the players. I could care less who is or isn't our OC.
We saw how Carmichael's play calling worked out without Payton telling him what to do. We piled up some yards, but were highly inefficient and extremely turnover prone. No balance. Give him the Bears group of misfits and he won't last two years. |

Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
Say Carmichael would get hired by the Bears and Doug Marrone for another team. Would people start talking about the Sean Payton coaching tree or would it be considered just a branch of the Parcells tree?

Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
Good let him go
Be prepared for your offense to go conservative with a lead in the 4th quarter, ultimately blowing the lead and losing the game |

I don't think Carmichael gets the job anyway. |
Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
If Carmichael goes.. look for a major over haul to our offense.

I can't figure if you're serious or not... I think that the only thing that'll change if Carmichael goes is that there'll be a new guy holding the clipboard and handing out Juicy Fruits to SP. But like SloMo already said, it's very unlikely that he'll be offered the position with the Bears. |

They can have that playbook... I fully expect SP to have a brand new playbook anyway when he arrives at the facility. I can't wait to see what kind of new plays he has come up with during this forced sabbatical away from the NFL. |

Word has it he plans to use the playbook from Connor's sixth grade team.

New Plays for next season- The Quadrupel end around and Ingram gains 3 yards instead of two!

Has Carmichael left yet?

Guess he doesn't want another ring.

Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
Well, if he goes to the Bears then we will continue own them. Nothing original just the same semi safe offense.

Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
Coordinators change jobs like underwear. Just because one leaves and a new one comes in, you don't do a complete overhaul(especially if your headcoach is the main signal caller). If and when we play the Bears, you'll see some different hand signals and wrinkles added. We're not going to see anything drastic done. Mike McCarthy didn't re-vamp the Packers offense because Joe Philbin went to Miami. It's all a big guessing game. How many different plays can you draw up from a 3 wide single back set? Tons.

All fine and dandy except.... Who are we interviewing?
When any employee is interviewing somewhere else it time to find his replacement. Carmicheal is interviewing.... Find a replacement now before the well is dry, if Pete doesn't get a job then he will have next season free to watch his replacement coach the offense. If Spags is not the answer then interview the guy that is. |
Re: Bears are currently interviewing Pete Carmichael Jr.
They should be interviewing people to replace McMahon and Bill Johnson... at least, and maybe they are behind the scenes.
I guess it doesn't really matter who they replace Carmichael with if he doesn't or isn't re-signed... you could just as easily just give SP the OC title as well. |
