Thumbs up Jackson, Hilliard see brighter days ahead with Payton's return

NEW ORLEANS — Saints legend Rickey Jackson expects to see an improved product on the field next season, now that suspended head coach Sean Payton has agreed to a multi-year contract extension.

Same goes for Dalton Hilliard, who along with Jackson, was a part of the most successful Saints seasons of the pre-Payton era.

Re: Jackson, Hilliard see brighter days ahead with Payton's return

Well, I didn't see any fire from the team this year. They played without fire and passion, almost like they thought, ok, we're here, lets win this thing and go home. They were not grounded at all. Almost like they were not held accountable for their play on the field. Just look at the WR's. This is the most pathetic year I've seen from any WR group since the 60's or 70's. We either lead or were 2nd in drops this year. That is totally uncharacteristic of our WR's. Colston's drops and fumbles were unacceptable as was Graham's and yet no one got in their face, then look at Moore, usually the most sure handed WR we have and he's dropping TD's no less, just like Colston and Graham. The lone bright spot @ WR was Joe Morgan. Then, Sproles starts dropping passes too. That shows lack of concentration plain and simple. Another thing was Drew Brees' lack of accuracy. He's always so on it's not funny but this year he was ridiculous with the INT's and poor accuracy. He directly cost us 3 games this year. I'm not trying to hate but you have to take responsibility for your body of work. As for the RB's, I have no clue as to why PT was phased out of the game plans. I just see no reason for it. I also see no reason that the coaching staff hardheadedly continued to showcase Ingram when EVERY RUNNING BACK ON THE TEAM OUT GAINED HIM!!!!!!! You got that Carmichael and Vitt????? INGRAM IS NOT GOOD!!! 2.35 YPC PROVES THAT. You've got the best screen RB in the game and he's on the bench, you've got the best pure RB on the team in Ivory gaining almost 10 ypc and he's inactive and you've got Sproles missing blitz pick ups, dropping balls and just in general playing a lackluster game all season long. We actually did better when he was out injured with the broken hand. I think we won every game he missed. That shows poor game planning by the coaches, poor player evaluation and stubborn hardheadedness by the coaching staff. They continually talk about balance, and running the ball blah blah blah, and what do they do?? They run the ball from our 30 to the opponents 30 and throw the ball the rest of the way in to try to score. If they get to the 2 or 3 yard line you might on the rare occasion see them try to run it in. This season is as much on the coaches as it is on the players and I'm very disappointed about that and I'm disappointed that I think we'll lose Ivory in favor of Ingram this offseason which is going to be a huge mistake. For all those that think Ivory is so injury prone, answer me this, do you really believe he was injured all those times??? I don't, especially that hammy late this year. For all those that want to point to fumbles, what fumbles??? Ivory didn't have any fumbles during games this season or even last IIRC. So, Payton's coming back will hopefully take care of some of those coaching brain farts.
