I\'m glad to see Haslett fine Donte\'. Smart football teams don\'t do stupid things. A 15-yard penalty can be the difference in the game sometimes. Think Kyle Turely and the helmet throwing incidence.
The other day I read where some of the players went to Haslett and asked him to be tougher with them. They asked that the card table and the boom box be taken out of the locker room. It\'s sad Haslett needed the players to tell him to be tougher. But it\'s good we have some high-character guys on this team that knew what needed to be done. Never the less, I\'m glad Haslett is be consistent with his discipline. Maybe this year we won\'t have cell phones on the field and Dontte\' won\'t be throwing footballls at the other team. |

I will not argue against the discipline part. I respect Haz for implimenting this new policy but I watched the game and I saw the incident in question and in my opinion I don\'t think Stallworth really meant to \"throw\" the football at anyone. It looked to me as though he just sort of tossed it as he walked away and it happened to hit Hawthorne. It honestly looked innocent to me. Not worthy or a 15 yard penalty or a $5000.00 fine but I\'m sure Haz will make his point. This is nothing even close to the Turley incident. Let\'s hope that all of this discipline, although needed, doesn\'t break any spirits.

what is this like my 2nd post...well anyway...
guys i said it then i say it now, i gave turley 2 thumbs up for the helmet incident then, and i still do today, yeah he was always a loose cannon, would run down field and clean peeps off of pileups, and often get flagged for it, but what he did was stand up for his QB, and send a message, to other teams, you mess with my team, i will unscrew your head!!!! also i have never been a person to blame a loss on 1 friggin play, i dont have all of the stats handy but how many turnover\'s did the saints have that game???y couldnt they get that xtra 1st down earlier in the game, or that field goal, or execute the play better, or whatever, same with carney\'s PAT he missed last year, if we\'d have played better ball the entire game, we wouldnt be in a positon to blame the loss on 1 play.... gettin back to turley, i would rather see a flag for standing up for your team than bustin out a cell phone or the sharpie...ANY type of post play celebration should be outlawed, they make me SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what did you do that was so special?!??!?! YOUR JOB, let the fans celebrate, and u do your job like u are supposed to, and like u are paid to do ok i shut up now |

Turleys heart was in the right place when he threw the helmet. But it still cost us big time. Would we have won? Who knows.
But, I\'ll tell you this. Games OFTEN come down to one play here or one play there. ONE play can definately cost the team a game. John Carneys kick cost us the Jaguars game. I\'ve seen Morten Anderson win a many a game for us with ONE last second kick. I\'ll say it again: Smart football teams don\'t commit stupid penalties. No matter what the reason may be. If they want to get some payback, do it legally. The way it should be done. This ain\'t tennis. Go out there and knock the crap outta somebody. |

i agree with u...but preventing mistakes, throughout the game, and yes having discipline, can prevent things from living or dying on 1 play, and yes sometimes a game may come down to a hail mary, or a wing and a prayer :casstet: :casstet:
