Still can't swallow this pill.
The losses to Washington, KC, and the two by the panthers. Just absolutely blow my mind. This is such a hard pill to swallow. If those games go our and win like we should have we'd be sitting at 12-4 but heck we had a every chance in the world to beat the 49ers and the falcons in ATL. Then we'd be sitting real pretty at 14-2. Just completely insane and ridiculous. We are a defensive playmaker and a stud O lineman away from being dominant again. Hope we get this fixed with whatever's left in the Brees era.

Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
Yeah, it sucks, but it is time to move on. I have no doubt in my mind that we will be back in the driver's seat next year with Payton back. It's just going to be a long wait until then.

Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
I agree those games should have been won but the coaching saga was having it's effects.

Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
while we're on the topic of long gone missed opportunities, if greg williams wasn't the worst DC on earth and put a safety on vernon davis in last years divisional play off game, we would have beat the whiners and spanked the giants at home to beat the pats and cap off brees' monumental season.
but ya, i do agree with you. losing to KC really sucked bad |
Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
I have watched the Saints lose so many games to teams that would struggle to beat a decent college team that I am fairly immune; it just goes with the territory of being a Saints fan.
But the losses to Atlanta, 40-whiners and Giants pisses me off to the heights of pisstivity!! |
Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
Should've, could've, would've... no use getting stuck with this past season's results - onwards and upwards with the free agency and draft!
:bng: |
We shouldn't care too much about the past. The future it is!

Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
Can't argue with the sentiments in this thread ... you just gotta' suck it up & continue to march. No shame.
The best thing about the whole situation is that it is the Saints, and there's a real hope for the future. Most other organizations would have went 2-14/0-16 and been destroyed for seasons to come. Bet. |
It's not healthy to keep reliving this season.
We were not coached well enough this season to be anything but .500 at best. You are what your record says you are. |
Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
Well the Redskins are a good team. We just didn't know it yet. KC, GB and the Falcons are the ones that bother me. And SF, we should have beat SF!!

Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
I already moved on. Its best just to put the season behind us and set our sights on getting back to the Super Bowl.

Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
The thing is, all year long it was compounded by the fact that (yes, I know it's a cruel world out there) in game after game, other teams basically smelled the blood in the water, they knew the Saints were on the ropes and at a disadvantage in their coaching, and they all exploited it. You could see that people were picking on the team, rubbing their noses in it, going after us, kicking the Saints while they were down, etc etc. Going all the way back to the Jacksonville preseason game, where they kicked a freaking onside kick against us, to start the second half. WTF kind of team pulls a stunt like that in a preseason game, unless you are trying to get somebody's goat or make a statement or just eff with somebody, because their back is against the wall and because you can punk them and get away with it. That's what made it hurt.
But if you get some distance on it, look at it objectively, other than a few flashes of brilliance, they straight up looked like a team without a head coach out there, it really showed. Beating this year's Saints was not really that big of an accomplishment. |
Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
I will always remember the lost 2012 season this way............ *2012.

Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
I seriously don't know what the NFL's problem is. This read option offense isn't all that hard. College teams defense it all the time and the NFL can't adjust??? What's wrong with this picture?

If their is one season with asterisk, its 2012, not just for the Saints, but the entire NFL season. Lets not forget the first 2-3 games with those replacement refs either, that has what swung the playoffs enough for teams like Seattle and Washington to get in the playoffs. |
Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
We couldn't finish games this season, that was our big problem, letting teams back into the game and it didn't always go our way
Payton will get that ironed out, we have all the trust in the world he will get it sorted Look to the future! Who dat |

Re: Still can't swallow this pill.
I blame Aaron Kromer. If Vitt was there from the begining we would have been at least 10-6

Don't ever look back. You can't get back what is gone. Look to the future. Coach Payton will make it all right.
