Saints GM: “We can’t just say it was all about Sean”
Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said Wednesday that his team’s 7-9 season was “beyond disappointing,” but that they had to be careful not to make it only about the absence of head coach Sean Payton.
“We’ve got a higher standard than we’ve ever had here,” Loomis said, via Mike Triplette of the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “That doesn’t mean we change everything here. We don’t need a cultural change. We don’t need to retool everything in the organization. But we do need to look at everything with a critical eye. We can’t just say it was all about Sean not being here or all about the bounty. Saints GM: “We can’t just say it was all about Sean” | ProFootballTalk |

That's right Mickey...
You might want to start with your own staff and the subpar contribution the Saints Drafting Efforts have made to the overall Saints Effort to be Perennial League Championship Contenders... Thirty-two (32) teams passed on Marques Colston until the Saints took him in round seven (r7) and you get named Executive of the Year; well someone set the bar high on you, so trying meeting the standard for yourself... |

I think his point was that a veteran squad should have done better. You don't get paid, on average, 40 times the median wage to be worse than replacement refs.

Start with Spags. Even a mediocre D would have taken us to the playoffs. Our D wasn't even close to mediocre.

We just have dumb players that can't understand complex schemes
GW's D was easy because it was blitz and man coverage but it got incredibly predictable Our players are not smart Enough to grasp the scheme in one season and some players look like the talent isn't there either Talent and smarts lacking, you easily notice which players struggle because it happens every week |

Clean house on the coaching staff:
Vitt: 33 years in the NFL. Not HC material, or AHC material in my opinion. He couldnt keep it together this season. Either send him walking or downgrade him to only LB Coach and find a new AHC. Carmicheal: Payton's puppet and we don't need puppets. He proved this season he can not adapt or improvise during a season, at half time, much less in the game. McMahon: We need a new ST coach period. Ellard: You NEVER fixed the dropsies. Fajole: Our secondary wreaked.. I am not calling for Spags UNLESS he brings in what he thinks we need on Defense and we are not in the top 15 next season... He gets a pass for this season because he didnt have the right tools for the job this season. Read this and understand why. As you flip through each players slides you tell me how many of them preformed as expected. Steve Spagnuolo: What His Hiring Means for Every Saints Defensive Player | Bleacher Report |
