this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Perhaps Goodell put in a call to Obama and said "make this go away"...

Re: Vilma's case dismissed...
Anyone think the next announcement will be that Coach Payton is reinstated? Vilma is very quiet on this so far....

Re: Vilma's case dismissed...
Godhell will wait to reinstate Payton. He can't have Payton hiring future coaches and getting the team ready.....not after all the time he spent tearing this team apart.
And as far as getting the second round draft pick back forget about it. Godhell is still pissed off. He isn't done with the Saints yet. Vilma will also lose his job this year. Poor fellow. |

Re: Vilma's case dismissed...
That sucks. I had hoped Vilma would get further vindication. I feared this, after Tagliabue's finely worded ruling.
I do like this part though.. "The Court nonetheless believes that had this matter been handled in a less heavy handed way, with greater fairness toward the players and the pressures they face, this litigation and the related cases would not have been necessary." Without Vilma, just how worthless the "evidence" against us was would never been known. I am glad he fought it, and in a lot of ways (although not as many as I would have liked), he did win. Oh and F*&* Goodell. He is one of the few people that I cannot even look at without feeling violent. |

Re: Vilma's case dismissed...
Hence the reason Tags did what he did. All a dog and pony show right up to RG acting like he was upset about Tags decision. EVERYTHING since the beginning has been calculated. The big bad NFL has won whether we like it or not.

But at least they had to fight for it. For the team's sake, I'm glad the circus is over but I'm impressed with Vilma for standing up for himself when nobody but Whodats believed him.He risked his career to confront a bald face lie. The NFL may have "won" in the end but it was a pyrrhic victory and didn't end up the way they thought it would when they started all this and I don't think Goodell can be happy at the outcome. |
