The 2012 season was the first time in S Malcolm Jenkins’ football career that a team he played on missed the postseason.

Adding to the disappointment of the campaign, Jenkins missed the final three games after being placed on injured reserve on Dec. 15 with a hamstring injury.

Despite the team being outside of the playoff hunt when Jenkins was placed on injured reserve, he didn’t take it as a chance to slack off.

Jenkins, who was voted as a team captain by his teammates to start the season, still wanted to help the team as much as he could.

Jenkins wore a headset and held a notepad on the sideline during the final three games of the regular season. He said he took a scouting approach while on the sidelines, analyzing what he saw on the field and advising other Black and Gold safeties including Rafael Bush and Isa Abdul-Quddus that helped fill his void.

“I just wanted to help any way I could,” said Jenkins. “It’s not fun standing on the sidelines so I wanted to make the most of it. I would just point things out to the younger guys and provide any details that can help.”

I like the type of person Malcolm is, always trying to make himself and the team better and always gives everything he has

However he needs to learn to tackle, that's my biggest pet hate with half the team

I can't blame many coverage problems on him because we had zero pass rush (for about the 5th year running)

But when it came to stopping the run, one play sticks in my mind 3rd and 6 vs bucs, Jenkins could have stopped their RB for a 3 yard gain, he gave a terrible attempt at a tackle and it turned into a 36 yard TD

It's not just Jenkins, all our players miss the tackles, but Jenkins has to get better seen as he's the last line of defense

Maybe if he tackled like a man and not dive at feet, he would be more appreciated by the fan base. Hard to remember the great plays when the majority of the time you lead the team in missed tackles.

The best statement of the article that I LOL'd at:

"One key component to Jenkins’ success with the Saints is his ability to adapt to change. He had a smooth transition from corner to safety in 2010and picked up first-year defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s scheme quickly"

Are you serious?

He probably picked it up better than the rest of the defense, given the abject horror show they produced.

Nope. It was puppy dogs and rainbows. Stating the same crap we heard from training camp. All the defensive players saying how easy the scheme was. Fast forward to present, worse defense in NFL histiry for yards allowed. Where is the disconnect coming from?

Glad to hear that he is gonna put the work in. It's not saying much, but he was our best DB last season, maybe having him in the panthers game would have got us to 8-8.

Yeah , Saints will learn from 2012 as in when SeanP gets to pen and paper with Loomis , many will learn what it is like to be on another team or maybe no team.
That is what many of them will learn.
Not playing , trying, or even looking like they were aware or interested during this past year will be former Saints and when other teams look at that film of some of these gusy missing tackles, running slow, and mo' , they may not pick these guys .

Still sayin' if one finger's pointing at the players (and rightfully so), the other three've gotta be pointing at the DC. We all know where their thumbs were....
