Absolutely! At least we weren't record breakingly bad under Williams. Even mediocre could've seen us getting ready for the big one....

I know that I'm in the minority on Spagnoulo but I'm willing to see it through another year. This year suffered by the Saints as a team and their fans was unprecedented. It was unrealistic to expect the defense, with basically the same players from last year, to be markedly better. The defense got worse, yes, but what a way to begin your career as DC in New Orleans. Get hired, Goodell goes nuts and takes all these things from the team (most importantly the HC), and without the leader of the team laying out his expectations, make a great defense.

The team needs good players to make this thing work. The Saints have hardly any good defensive players. The coaches are starting the 2013 season today and have a lot of work to do.

Spagnoulo has a pretty good track record with defenses so I'm fine with him coming back next year.
