this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; There's that oft-used saying by football coaches, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." In theory, that is sound. But what if it is broke? Did you really fix it or just put new paint on it? That's a question ...

The Saints defense is 'broke,' so why don't they fix it?

But what if it is broke? Did you really fix it or just put new paint on it? That's a question I've been mulling over as it's time to give a guess on how the New Orleans Saints will fare record-wise in 2004. http://clarionherald.org/20040825/buddyd.htm I hate to agree with him but he makes some good points and believe me it took alot to make this statement [Edited on 8/31/2004 by pakowitz] |

Its an article by BuddyD.
My little sister has more football insight than he does. \"Fred Taylor, in his ninth year,\" Nice, Buddy. Sharp as a tack once again. [Edited on 31/8/2004 by Danno] |

\"the exception of third-round acquisition Courtney Watson\"
2nd round, 2nd round, 2nd round! Not nearly as funny as Fred Taylor playing in our secondary. Not only did we trade for a top running back, we converted his ass to CB. [Edited on 31/8/2004 by BlackandBlue] |

This is the Buddy D I hear you guys talking off on and off???
What a rip off. This guy gets paid to write these articles?? He may be right about this year\'s Saints, but it is hard to take anyone serious who doesn\'t know Fred Taylor and WATSON in the 3rd??? What the f??? Yet, I agree. From all I have seen so far (I KNOW, i know it\'s only pre-season) I do think we look like an average NFL team. 7-9 thru 9-7 very possible. But I have the DirectTV package since I live in DC, and I saw the Panthers, the Cowboys among others who were average teams that caught a few breaks. So why not us? And if we do catch them, do we suddenly get glorified by Buddy D?? SORRY, I \'m just crabby. Can\'t wait for the season to start. Almost too much yapping going on and not enough FOOTBALL!!!!!! As usual as a Saints fan, you have to brace for the 3-13 record any year, and keep talking about the Super Bowl until the season starts... at least. |

Gee, somebody sure is crabby... :P
As for Buddy, I wish he\'d spit out the mashed potatoes and actually talk. I think that Buddy has gone to the point of no return with the Saints, like so many fans. LOTS of Saints fans get to a point that is so bleak and bereft of hope that they can\'t even imagine what it would be like for the team to ____________ (be winners, go to the playoffs, make good personnel moves, win the superbowl, whatever) Buddy may have gotten to that bitter, angry Saints fan place over the last 2-3 years. It gets magnified because he has to make a living talking about the Saints for most of the year. .02 |
