this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; NT-Bunkley LDE-Jordan RDE-Hicks OLB-Galette, Wilson, FA, Draft Pick I think Lofton is a great candidate for ILB in a 3-4. Wilson can also play ILB. Bye Bye Vilma and Smith. Exciting times my friends, exciting times....

Now I'm actually drooling that Mingo falls to us. He's perfect for that rush OLB spot. |

Also changes free-agent strategy as well. We'll need another NT, and a couple mid-level 3-4 DE's and LB's for depth and we're practically the Dome Patrol... right? ![]() |

Re: Saints to a 3-4???
Danno I don't know about Vilma leaving but he we have to take a pay cut. Damn I just remember that's the reason Vilma left the Jets because he couldn't handle the 3-4. So yes he maybe gone I would have like to see him and Lofton playing next to each other.

Re: Saints to a 3-4???
We saw them together this year. Vilma is now the square peg. He is in serious decline anyhow and I got the feeling coach is gonna get rid of all "Bounty" players. He wants to distance our team from that entire mess.

You are right that Bunkley wouldn't be suited for a two-gap 3-4 but would be a really good fit in a one-gap 3-4. I won't pretend I knew the difference before watching this and reading about it on another site. Here's a link that explains it. The Texans run a one-gap 3-4 if anyone is interested. Apparently our current personnel are nicely suited for a one-gap 3-4. |
