Yeah, I agree with you guys. Trading down would be ideal, especially if it would net the Saints a good return and still allow them tot get the player they were targeting the whole time.

But, that is going to depend totally on how the draft develops on the draft day and which players the teams picking behind the Saints are coveting and how much.

So, definitely keep the option open for any possibilities to trade down, but they can't build their draft day strategy on the belief that they can find a trading partner.

I say stay put and keep with the program... draft best player available. We could use help on D sure but we also could use help on the O line as well. Snag a top 15 impact player or someone we can develop for the future.

Never been a fan of best player available. Best player to fill a need and boy, do we have needs...

Everyone keeps saying draft a premier NT, but does no one remember that is exactly what Bunkley was for the broncos? He graded out as the best NT in the league 2 years ago.

Same with Aubroyo Franklin. We tried TWICE to make NT's into 4-3 DT's and it failed miserably.

Why not give Bunkley a chance to be that premier 3-4 NT again?

Regardless of whether or not Bunkley can do the job as the NT, the Saints do need depth at that position, and the thinking probably is to draft a promising NT now, so that he can learn the system under a veteran like Bunkley.

Bunkley might do really well as the starting NT, like he did in Denver, but he is not going to be a long-time NT for the Saints, so they need a guy to be that "franchise NT."

I do like Bunkley as a player, and I think that he deserves a shot at being the starting NT, but I would prefer someone bigger in stature than Bunkley to anchor that nose. Bunkley's huge upper body strength allows him to be successful againts O-lineman even though he doesn't necessarily have the ideal size for the position, however, I think that size thing is what will keep him from ever being a truly dominant NT.
