PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar | ProFootballTalk
Rob Ryan has been out of work for closer to five weeks than five minutes, but he may be close to landing another job. Ryan is a candidate to become the next defensive coordinator of the Saints, according to NFL Network’s Gil Brandt. Saints coach Sean Payton has already said that his next coordinator will be someone who primarily runs a 3-4 defense. Other candidates who have been named include Romeo Crennel and Eric Mangini. Ryan has been unemployed since the Cowboys fired him in early January. He was reportedly close to becoming the Rams’ defensive coordinator, but the Rams confirmed last week that Ryan will not be joining their coaching staff. |
Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
I dunno, what I can tell you about Rob Ryan is that I thought he was going to land a coaching job after moving out from Cleveland as the DC.
Why? Because the years he was DC in Cleveland, they were quite good on defense, to me it looked like Rob was the heart and soul of the entire team compared to all the other crap they had, not to mention lack of any talent on that defense. I take his tenure in Dallas with a gain of salt. |
Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
I dunno about the Ryans. Yes Rob is a better option than his douchenozzle brother, but it just seems like these guys invite a lot of press.

Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
No thank you.

Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
I don't know about this one. Dallas was pretty below average all last year.

Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
ROB RYAN??? please god no, id rather have Spags back

Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
This feels like more like "Sean Payton will go to Dallas" talk than anything else.

Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
Payton has waited until the super bowls over, rob ryan may be on the radar but i still believe he's wanting a raven or 49er coach

Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
1. Regardless of how big a market he's in...he has a big mouth.
2. Dallas still sucked the past 2 seasons....and they actually have talent...wouldn't bode well for our squad. LOL. Him & his brother are basically GW but the run 3-4. I want a guy thats going to take time and TEACH these guys how to play....not just yell, cuss, blitz every play, tell them to hit hard & strip the ball instead of actually tackling. |
Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
Ive been out of touch. Does Lovie have a job yet? Does he run a 3-4

The best words of advice can be found on the back of the "Hitch hikers guide to the Galaxy", in big bold lettering:
DON'T PANIC |
Don't see this. Sean being as close to Jerry as they say, wouldn't he call Jerry first?
|
Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
Only if we get Ed Reed to go with him. Boley just got released too.

Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
Well I'll take him. I called it he was going to be our DC in another thread. He is just the guy we need. There isn't many out there that our VETS need. If a player doesn't believe in their coach they won't leave it out on the field. We can't do any worse...

Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
I got mixed emotions with Ryan, he has a big mouth for one, 2 it would not be as bad as last year.
|
Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
I'm confident Sean Payton can control rob Ryan's mouth. If his coaching ability is outstanding and we win I can stomach to drama for 1-2 minutes...
|
Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
Let's make Brees the cherry on top this year and win with our defense. Think Rob can do that?
|
Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
What has Rob said or done that even comes close to the media circus his brother creates?
I'm just curious because I always thought Rob was just a little cocky. If its just a little cockiness I'm OK with it. |
Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
Raiders fans hated him and said he destroyed their defense BUT then again, Raiders have had many problems though out the decade. So that might not be the most credible feedback.
|
Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
I really hope he doesn't become the next DC, I'd much rather have Crennel or someone like Tomsula.

Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
I was. mildly upset about the news of Ryan's alleged hiring. Then I remembered how everyone was so excited about Spats hiring. I trust that the Saints will hire the best available DC

The only thing that killed the Raiders was Al Davis.

Even some Cowboys act like this guy has been the DC on their team for a decade. He IS NOT the constant in that franchise & this past season he had guys off the street playing for him on defense. Relax people, he isn't as bad of a defensive coordinator as most tend to think. Just trust & believe in Payton that he does the right thing. |

Re: PFT-Rob Ryan on Saints’ radar
I think Rob Ryan was fired from Dallas not because he can't coach its because he isn't a yes man to jerry jones. Believe it or not Dallas Defense wasn't that bad when they were healthy.
The offense gave up alot of turn overs which put the defense in bad situations... I'm not the happiest about him either but you have to believe that Sean payton can control him. If he's hired I still think he's an upgrade from Spags... We juast seemed soft and cuddly with Spags. I wanna see more smash mouth from our defense and thats one thing I miss from Williams. I'm willing to accept him as Defensive coordinator if he's hired. |
