ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier Tuesday that the Saints planned to hire Ryan as their defensive coordinator. But with Grantham coming in, that's not necessarily a certainty.

Adam Schefter just reported on his twitter that Saints plan to hire Rob Ryan, per league sources. What do you guys think of that?

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Saints plan to hire Rob Ryan as their new defensive coordinator.

However, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports Georgia DC Todd Grantham will interview for the job on Thursday before Ryan meets with Sean Payton and company on Friday. The TP's Larry Holder insists Ryan's hiring isn't a "done deal." Schefter's report strongly suggests Ryan is the choice to replace Steve Spagnuolo, but as Ryan's flirtation with the Rams proved, it won't be official until his name is signed on the dotted line. The Saints are switching from a 4-3 defense to 3-4 scheme in 2013, and few assistants have more experience overseeing a 3-4 than Ryan.

Ryan was nowhere near my top ten choices for DC. This news made me feel like I just sucked on a lemon.

That said, I hope he proves me wrong and does well. I was really happy when we got Spags and we see how that turned out.

In Payton we trust. I don't mind it. But Payton sure needs to hit this one out of the ball park.

Not my first choice but I trust SP. Hopefully SP can control him and he doesn't do the same kind antics he did in Dallas.

A drowned squirrel would be a step up from the atrocity that was visited upon us last season. I would have rather had Romeo Crennel though. I just hope Ryan is a good fit.

Have to trust payton and company on this hire. You have to think payton has a way to control his breakdowns or should say emotions. Lets see if it turns out to be him.

Would really like to see Stanfords DC get interviewed....he would have inside track on that jerk Harbaugh. .....but I trust Sean.....Ryan would Defintely bring some needed confidence/arrogance that Spags didn't have

Rob Ryan is in for a SERIOUS challenge. He had the likes of Ware, Sean Lee, Mo Claiborne, Anthony Spencer etc... we don't have that kind of talent on the current roster. Sean has more rings than I do so I trust him on the hire.

I was truly thinking Sean was looking at someone on staff with one of the Super Bowl teams - a lesser known type maybe.

But I'm not disappointed. Ryan is a good coach with some fire. I'm looking forward to it should it prove to be true.
