Sean Payton doesn’t believe bounty scandal will tarnish Saints’ franchise

New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton that his punishment for the bounty scandal was ”unprecedented” and “stands out,” but he doesn’t believe it will tarnish the Saints as an organization.

“I don’t think it at all tarnishes the accomplishments of this team,” Payton told ESPN Radio’s “Mike and Mike” show, per NFL.com. “When it’s all said and done, and we look at this stretch, however long this stretch goes, I think the accomplishments and what we do and how we earn what we earn on the field, is most important and what’s most remembered.”

Saints quarterback Drew Brees recently admitted he’s still mad at the NFL, but Payton says it’s time to move on and he’ll address that with his players.

“For me to be removed from it for eight months,” Payton said. “I wasn’t going to able to spend months feeling that same anger without going crazy, and I think it’s going to be important for all of us to move forward.”

He's right. It won't. We should never apologize for playing hard nosed football. We took one for every team in the league and that is what should be remembered. Time to move on.

Maybe everyone will move on when people stop telling us to move on. I can't imagine I'll ever look at the NFL the same way again, after all this madness. But when I try to think about something else in sports, I keep reading these headlines about moving on. Quit bringing it up, for crap sake.

This...if these holier than thou sports writers would stop telling us how to feel maybe we could finally move on. Only reason this is still such an issue is because they keep writing stories about it. Seems like they're the ones who need to let it go....
