New Orleans Saints - 2013 Cap Hits

Between Will Smith and Vilma alone, we are spending just over 23 million dollars next season. And though I like Vilma, I remember him being "out of place" in a 3-4 system when he was with the Jets, though he did have great numbers. Plus he's dealt with injuries the last two seasons.... and we could do a lot with $23 million...

How is will smith still being paid like an elite DE? I mean 14 mil is absurd

Bunkley may surprise us, he was pretty good in the Broncos 3-4...

Shanle and Ellis are both UFAs, so they won't be back.... most likely.

Yeah, Bunkley did well for Denver in their 3-4 defense, so I'm excited for what he'll do for ours. We do need a backup NT behind him tho. Montori Hughes in the 5th! :D

I was already there at Smith. Have to say I was surprised at many of the names above Sproles'.

I know , its sad Harper would ever make more than Greer. Im pretty sure Vilma ( not 3-4) , Harper (definitely not 3-4 0r 4-3 ), and Smith (not 3-4 ) are gone without a shot of restructuring.
I dont believe loomis will even consider the possibility. Its nothing personal, just CAP control, and he can get guys cheaper, and have the same performance of Smith and Harper, and save a few million for FA. Vilma's position was was filled while he was out. We have 8 LB's, 9 if you count Johnson. I just dont see a restructure in his future. Oh and Shantle is gone to.
