Michigan State Offensive Coordinator to Interview With New Orleans Saints
News has come out from East Lansing today that Michigan State offensive coordinator Dan Roushar may be on his way out. Roushar has reportedly been drawing interest from the New Orleans Saints for their vacant running backs coach position.
Roushar was scheduled to interview with the Saints today for the job and contrary to a normal situation, many Spartan fans may be rejoicing at this opportunity to find a new offensive coordinator. It’s still early in the off-season, so finding an adequate replacement for Roushar would not be an issue because of the quality of coaches still without a job. Roushar received his fair share of criticism from Spartan faithful during the 2012 regular season as well as the team’s appearance in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl. The reason for this critical attitude toward the offensive coordinator? He has been one-dimensional at times when calling plays for the Spartan offense. With running back Le’Veon Bell at his disposal, he, at times, over-used the junior running back and thought little about creatively calling plays, instead he handed the ball off to Bell 30-plus times a game. This may have been a reason that the running back decided to leave early because the average career for a running back is already short, his mileage was over-used in college. The Spartan offense was one of the worst in the worst in the Big Ten in 2012 after a solid 2011 season. It doesn’t help that quarterback Andrew Maxwell struggled all season long, especially with the lack of experience and production at the receiver position. Mark Dantonio may have to look elsewhere for a play-caller in 2013, but that may be OK with Michigan State fans everywhere. Re: Michigan State Offensive Coordinator to Interview With New Orleans Saints
He's crazy stupid about the running game and helped develop some decent RB's. Three of them'll be in the NFL this coming year. Just keep him way, way far away from the OC's chair.

Re: Michigan State Offensive Coordinator to Interview With New Orleans Saints
get ready for a season of Ingram over Thomas again?
Till the saints address the OL issues this is not going to work. PT fits the blocking style the saints use not Ingram. I do blame the RBs If we are to use Ingram we need a Blocking TE and an upgrade to RT as well as OC that can pull better. The saints are not built for a power run. hirer whatever or whoever as your running back coach and Ingram will fail. Its not his fault. Lets hope our new OL coach can get the job done. If not might as well see what you can get in a trade. |
