Hate to lose a solid starter. No way to make him up on the FA market with our budget. However, price has to be right

How about all those signing bonuses that have come with those restructures, not to mention that with the last restructure the last year of his contract - which was originally optional - was picked up by the franchise.

I'd love to see a restructuring but I don't want to see him get paid more than he's worth.

I hope he gets released... his production was piss poor for the last few years. He has been the most over-payed player on our roster for sometime now.

The biggest problem I have with Smith coming back is he may be taking Hicks position at DE. Hicks could be a star for us but he needs to get the chance playing full time. If Smith stays that wont happen.

This is a new D... out with the old and lets turn the ship around.

I agree. Saints D is a 'fan favorite' and that is part of the reason we consistently suck. Play these young guys for a change. It boggles my mind how we saw such little of Martez as well.
