Re: Wonder why we don't make the conference championship every year
I think the "lesson" that I learned here is that it's ludicrous to compare one QB's fifth and presumably final contract with his team, to another QB's second contract with his team, in order to grind an axe and prove some kind of bizarre point about greed or morality or to show that you don't like a particular QB being on the team.... Compare Brady's 2005 or 2010 contract with the Brees deal this year....they are lots more similar....Brady's 2010 deal made him the highest paid player at the time -- how selfless and noble of him, LOL....let's try and stick to comparing apples and oranges to each other, folks, or it looks like your hatred for Brees has blinded you.....

Reason we don't make the conference championships every year is cuz our defense lets us down more often than not in the playoffs......
So quit crying bout Brees' contract cuz you'd be makin a thread about us not winning more than 5 games every season if we didn't have him. |

Tom Brady gets $30 million to sign | ProFootballTalk
So much for less money. The new contract signed Monday by Pats quarterback Tom Brady pays him $27 million total over the final three years. But he was paid $30 million as a bonus for applying his name to the dotted line at the bottom of the document. Per a source with knowledge of the contract, Brady received a $30 million signing. He’ll also receive a base salary of $1 million this year and $2 million in 2014. This device, given the three new contract years, results in a cap number of $13.8 million in 2013 — $8 million less than the cap number under his prior deal. Of that amount, $6.8 million comes from past contracts. Another $6 million comes from the initial proration of the new signing bonus. Next year, the cap number increases to $14.8 million. The cap numbers for 2015, 2016, and 2017 will be $13 million, $14 million, and $15 million, respectively. In each year, $6 million is attributed to the $30 million signing bonus. Over the next two years, Brady will make $33 million. Which is more than the nearly $30 million he was due to earn under the prior deal. Less money, indeed. |
