Whats he due to make this year? That may be the deciding factor in this with our cap issues.
I don't think we need Drew's replacement but we do need a capable back up if needed for a few games.

He isn't due anything since he's an UFA, and that's where his apparent frustration stems from - still Twitter is the wrong place to vent oneself.

He was making $1M last year as a RFA, but I doubt he'd be willing to settle for that "little" this time around, and I doubt the Saints are willing/able pay much more than that to keep him around.

I think his tweet was more like, he's frustrated that the Saints haven't given him a deal YET. Like, "hurry up guys, I'm waiting."

Last year, Chase was practically the very first guy signed, in fact I think he was THE first non-practice squad or bottom feeder guy that got a deal done last year -- they signed him first, early on, for a million, as "insurance" in case all hell broke loose on the Brees deal. Which was an incredibly smart thing for Loomis to do. This year other people come first, and he is one of those guys who is going to wait and come down to the wire. There might be some free agents or other QBs who pop loose, that the Saints will want to take a look at.

He also has been very good about taking one-year contracts, and may be getting tired of that. Wanting a longer deal. This could just be a ploy to get Loomis to take Chase's agent's calls. But I think they are waiting to do Chase's deal, because they want to get him at the last minute, and lowball him, "take it or leave it son." With not much time to leave.

If the Saints were considering resigning him they should offer LESS because of the Twitter comment....

" We don't do that Chase... we're not the J-E-T-S! "

No one knows if he's worth the money except the coaches and maybe Drew. Drews' motto is never let your backup see the field. When he does get on the field all he does is hand off the ball.
