No Maclin also graduated, but Maclin hasnt been all that great tbh. Moore as well, but Mo wasnt a good defense in 08. I was a Daniel supporter that year, I saw where he struggled in certain games, and it was against the big three in the then big 12 south. His defense lost it against Kansas. But he was a Heisman finalist the year before. But it didnt matter what defense did, because Texas, Oklahoma were stacked on offense, they were spread offenses. But Daniel has good mechanics he just needed to learn more, he's been behind Brees to where he learned a lot. But also, he would have been a success with the redskins had they kept him. I guess Daniel is one of those wait til he actually starts and does something qbs but I see huge potential in him. |
Re: Tweet from Chase Daniel...
What he posted was a fact. No coach should be upset at that nor should any fan. I hope we re-sign him but if we don't I wish him well wherever he ends up unless he plays against us. The vet minimum for him is $715,000 so I could see another offer.

Re: Tweet from Chase Daniel...
Add your boss, some media, and coworkers to your twitter. Go public with how you feel about an unsettling situation at work, knowing the media will go public with it and see how the company you work for feels about it.
Or have an employee that works for you do the same.. Se how you feel about it.. "Fact" is no excuse for bad form. |

Every unrestricted free agent out there, not just Chase Daniel, would feel the same way. It is not a jab at the Saints management, but an honest declaration of how this part of the business affects the player's psyche. Over the years I have heard dozens of players say pretty much the exact same thing in one form or another. He doesn't know where he will be next year and that has got to feel weird. You, and a few others here, are making far too much of this absolutely sublime and innocent remark. |

My view has nothing to do with feelings... its going public, which seems to be the new fad that agents are pushing players to do. These are not 10th grade school girls, they are grown men that are intelligent and calculating. Could you imagine Payton tweeting "Drew has thrown too many interceptions, I am worried about our team and how we will win next week" An uneasy feeling is something you share with your spouse, not the planet. He is wearing his emotions on his sleeve. |
Re: Tweet from Chase Daniel...
I wish we had the budget to sign him for what he might really be worth.

Your example of a fictitious Payton tweet is in no way anything approaching the tweet by Daniel. It has nothing to do with the Saints or any other personnel. It was a statement of how he was feeling personally at the time. THAT is Twitter's purpose. A more comparative tweet by Payton would be: "I have this weird, eerie feeling about what to expect during my upcoming suspension." If Payton was on Twitter, this would have been a not totally unexpected, innocent tweet. |

Knowing Sean and the staff...
They've been eyeing someone nobody else has. He'll either turn out to be great or Ingram |

isn't Mark Brunell selling life insurance now?
Flat broke last I heard |
Re: Tweet from Chase Daniel...
We should bring in Jamarcus Russel
Think about it, QB's like Roethlisberger and Flaccos love child, blocks like Jahri Evans, rushes like William Perry, and would make a hell of a Nose Tackle... AND we can pay him like Cadet. Now thats a frikken Win/Win |
Re: Tweet from Chase Daniel...
I don't wish anything bad for Daniel and I'd like to see him re-signed, but I just don't think the Saints can afford him, since he'll be looking for more than the $1M per annum he played under last season.
I'll be happy if he gets a chance to compete for the starting job with some other team - if it isn't any of the NFC South teams - and I'll be happy that I don't have to see him and Brees come together after a TD in those stupid choreographed celebrations ever again. |

Re: Tweet from Chase Daniel...
I believe we will sign Daniel to another 1 year deal for 1 million unless someone offers him starter money or chance to be the starter. Let's face it, if we don't sign him we will have to sign a player that doesn't know the offense and also be the new holder on kicks although I wouldn't mind the idea of Morstead holding and it will probably be for $500,000 or so. It's not that much of a difference in money. If not Daniel, who do you think we would sign?

Depending on salary what about Colt McCoy as back up?
He has more talent than he showed at the Browns.Dont think they give him much if a shot myself. He had no WR at all. |
Re: Tweet from Chase Daniel...
"Now we know part of it, as Jeff Darlington of NFL.com points out the contract Matt Moore agreed to this morning is a two-year deal worth $8 million."
For Matt Moore, $8 million reasons to be a backup | ProFootballTalk Afraid if Daniel is looking for a two-year deal worth $8 million...it will be elsewhere. |
Re: Tweet from Chase Daniel...
Part of me hopes Chase finds a starting opportunity. The greedy part as I have a 1 of a kind rookie trading card of his that will make me some profits should he get an opportunity with a franchise that has a passionate fan base. But the Saints fan in me wants him around. I think he fits our offense well as a support role and god forbid something happens he can step in and not be a deer in headlights.

McCoy has been discussed here before and he certainly could be an intriguing option if the salary figures worked out for both sides. He would have to accept the fact that he wouldn't start without something happening to Brees, but he would be learning from one of the best QBs ever to have played the game and from one of the best offensive-minded HCs the league has seen; so maybe that would be incentive enough to entice him to sign with the Saints. Or maybe Canfield CAN be the answer - I highly doubt it, but couldn't resist the pun. ;-) |
