New Numbers March 5th:
NFL Cap for 2013 is $123.9M

Saints active contracts = $119.2m
Dead money = $1.1m
2012 cap rollover = $2.7 m
Top 51 = 116.7M
Present cap status $115.2m

Approx Delta $8,647,681 UNDER <----- We have to stay below $123.9m

While we are all breathing a sigh of relief there is still some major hurdling to do.

1. We have to go through the draft.
2. Possibly pick up a few free agents.
3. The Salary Cap is TOTAL salary, this includes practice squad.
4. We want to start the season (September 4th Salary Cap Deadline) NO LESS than 3M below the cap in case of injuries etc...

Reductions to Smith/Vilma

Smith reduced his salary from 9M to 3M
Restructured 4.8M base salary to 1M and eliminated a 1.1M roster bonus.

If you want an idea of what drafts will cost us assuming they all make the team you can go off of these 2013 numbers.. I would use the draft pick number that corresponds with our draft picks.

75 - 544k
106 - 504 k
137 - 443 k
173 - 420k

The Draft should cost us around 3.5M in 2013 if we keep them all

If we cut or restructure Harper we then could afford a big name FA or at least a few decent FAs...

Cap situation is looking up as long as the Harper issue gets resolved.

Detroit signed Bush and I'm still saying the Cards are gonna come knockin' so figure in the price for another third rounder in the cap thing.
