How about Kevin Kolb for backup QB?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I'd take him over the crap that's out there. Only concern as a starter has been durability. I think Cards were 4-1 before he got hurt. We just need to make sure he has a Nerf clipboard, and we're good ...

What we need is an injection of drama to clear away the "Bounty Gate" fog. I thought I saw Benson's jet headed toward Kiln, Mississippi!! LOL

Cassel is long gone.

Ryan Nassib may make it to round 4 if Buffalo doesn't jump on him.

I'm with you. Keep the costs down. All we need is a guy to hold a clipboard while Drew does his thing. If, god forbid, something were to happen to Brees, then we just need a guy to lose as many games as possible to improve our draft position.

... hot off the presses ...

Kolb is due a $2 million roster bonus on Saturday, and carries a $13.5 million cap number in 2013 as part of the onerous six-year, $63.5 million contract he signed in July of 2011. New head coach Bruce Arians and new general manager John Keim have no specific ties to Kolb, though Keim was in Arizona's front office when the deal was made, and Arians no doubt would like to move on from a hyper-expensive quarterback who has started just 14 games and thrown just 17 touchdowns in his two seasons with the team.

Where would Kolb go upon his release? Believe it or not, there's a lot of fire behind this smoke: Rumors that he could indeed compete for and win the starting job with the New York Jets have quite a bit of weight to them. New Jets offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg filled that same position for Andy Reid with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2007, when the Eagles selected Kolb in the second round out of Houston.
