Re: Fax snafu makes Dumervil available
8mill? Where is that coming from? And that's the old price. The new price is more.
We need to either start combing through the Canadian league waiver wire or the Sumo league cut list because they shoot horses as lame as what is left here. |
Re: Fax snafu makes Dumervil available
A bizarre set of circumstances pushed the Denver Broncos to release prolific pass-rushing linebacker Elvis Dumervil on Friday afternoon. Dumervil doesn't appear to be in the New Orleans Saints' plans, though, as the Saints aren't actively pursuing the former Broncos defender, according to a source.
The Saints are certainly in the market for a pass rusher, and Dumervil would fit the bill in the Saints' new 3-4 defensive scheme. But Dumervil's price tag is probably to high for the cash-strapped Saints at this point. It was widely reported Dumervil agreed to a restructured contract with Denver dropping his base salary from $12 million to $8 million instead of being released. But in a wild twist, Dumervil didn't fax the signed contract back to the Broncos in time before a 2 p.m. central deadline pushing the Broncos to release him. Dumervil signed a six-year, $61.5 million contract in 2010 after compiling 17 sacks in 2009. He tallied 11 sacks last season in Denver. New Orleans was willing to spend a hefty sum on linebacker Paul Kruger once free agency opened and finished as the runner-up for Kruger, a source said. The Browns signed the highly coveted free agent formerly with the Ravens. New Orleans Saints not chasing former Broncos LB Elvis Dumervil, source says | NOLA.com |

I think he's too old...if anything I want us to go after a tackle in FA and go after a pass rusher in the draft.

Re: Fax snafu makes Dumervil available
He's a good player who the Saints could certainly use, but I firmly believe that there are better ways to spend the cap space which would be needed in order to bring him over to New Orleans - ways that can bare fruit long into the future when Dumervil is no longer an impact player.
