Breaking down Keenan Lewis' deal
The New Orleans Saints apparently expect recently signed cornerback Keenan Lewis to be an instant starter. They certainly are paying him like one.
Lewis got a five-year, $25.5 million deal, according to numbers obtained by ESPN.com The Saints gave Lewis a $6 million signing bonus and his base salary will be $1 million this year. In 2014, Lewis’ base salary will be $3.3 million. His salary jumps to $4.1 million in 2015, when he also can collect a $500,000 roster bonus. In 2016, Lewis’ base salary is scheduled to be $4.45 million and he also can earn a $500,000 roster bonus. In 2017, his base salary rises to $4.95 million and he can collect a $500,000 roster bonus. The deal also includes a $50,000 workout bonus in each year of the contract. Lewis also can earn escalators of $200,000 each year from 2013 through 2016 Breaking down Keenan Lewis' deal with the New Orleans Saints - ESPN All in all not bad. there is a level of risk here but not a bad risk Robinson will move to slot and given time to develop? White to the dime? this will be fun to watch and see how all this develops. If Greer or one of the others goes down i kinda like the depth. then add in another vet starter? not to bad Can AJ Davis or Ryan Steed step up and some spot duty in? Draft more talent to groom? thats possible |

Re: Breaking down Keenan Lewis' deal
Not at all bad, and I do like that there are some escalators to keep him motivated in perhaps improving his catching ability to increase his INT rate.

Re: Breaking down Keenan Lewis' deal
All in all not too bad..........I just wish he had a little more starting experience though. However, if he did we probably wouldn't have been able to afford him.
