Re: Walter Football Mock Draft 3/20/13
Whoa! Mingo rated higher than Jones?! Wait just a minute. I'm pretty sure that there was a point (before the scariness about Jones' back problem came fully to light) that Jarvis Jones was considered the best talent in this entire draft pool. Keke Mingo is the DEFINITION of "Boom or Bust". He is undersized and does not have the stats from college to pad his hype. Now I know that he has the athletic measurables to suggest that he will become a good NFL player, but he is also a "Bust Trap" waiting to explode on some unsuspecting team. I think that the Saints have a very short window of Brees' godliness, and we can't afford to take such high risks at the moment. Our draft has to consist of Jordan or Ansah OR a TRADE DOWN for an extra pick and maybe a guy like Margus Hunt. I don't think there is much room for an exception to that game plan. With Jenkins, Harper, Bush, and Abdul-Quddus at the S positions and the way that we're stacking up our CBs, Our first pick HAS TO BE a proven, every down, and solid pass rusher. The closest thing to a "project" that we can afford is Ansah, and with his combination of SIZE and athleticism, he is much more ready than Mingo. I think that all of this discussion is a wash anyway though, because chances are pretty good that we trade down, in my opinion.
