Linebacker Victor Butler coming to New Orleans on Thursday to visit Saints
Phoenix - The New Orleans Saints will host free-agent linebacker Victory Butler on a visit Thursday, according to a league source. The Saints are looking for outside linebackers as they convert to a 3-4 scheme under defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
Butler, who is 6 feet 2 and 245 pounds, played under Ryan with the Dallas Cowboys. The 25-year-old had 25 tackles and three sacks last season. He was a fourth-round pick by the Cowboys out of Oregon State in 2009. CBSSports.com first reported the news of his visit. Re: Linebacker Victor Butler coming to New Orleans on Thursday to visit Saints
He might be a good addition to the OLB depth if the price is right, and his signing would take some pressure of the draft.
Then again I really don't know what caliber of a player he really is and if he'll fit into what Ryan is now doing in New Orleans, because it might not be a carbon copy of the scheme he implemented in Dallas. Well, in any case, it can't hurt to kick some tires. |

Quote:
Galette's deal was supposedly $1.2M/yr average, and sure enough Spotrac has his contract at 3 yr/$3.6M with cap hits of 800K in 2013 and $1.4M in both 2014 and 2015. Junior Galette Contract, Salaries, and Transactions ...if in fact you meant Galette by Jr..? But it's really hard to estimate what the cap situation is at the moment, because the details of the Benjamin Watson signing and the Courtney Roby and Ramon Humber re-signings haven't yet been released as far as I know. |

This guy really flashed in spot duty. I want him. Every interview I have heard with him has him come off like a well spoken, well raised and humble man. Every interview I have heard speaking about him says he's smart, driven and becoming a better player every day.

This kid is the classic "Solid Back-up with potential for more". I'd love to see our boys pick him up. Loomis can always find a way to make these things work. There is always fat to be trimmed. :-) Besides the obvious flashes of a pass rusher out of Butler, I love his 4 forced fumbles in spot duty over the past 4 seasons. Sacks+FF=Play-maker! Sign him up.
