Saints re-signed LB Will Herring
Saints re-signed LB Will Herring to a one-year contract.
The six-year veteran was just released by the Saints nine days ago because he was due $1.6 million in 2013. Herring, a pure special teams player, likely signed back on for the veteran minimum. Source: WWL TV #championship :p |
Re: Saints re-signed LB Will Herring
Good signing if it's in fact for the vet minimum!
I hated seeing him released earlier, but the salary was just too high for what he does for the team. :bng: |

Re: Saints re-signed LB Will Herring
nothing wrong with depth and a player that can play more than one position plus cap friendly
|
Re: Saints re-signed LB Will Herring
Herring will provide some nice depth behind the LB starters and he's already familiar with the organization and the people within it, so it's really a win-win situation in my view.

Re: Saints re-signed LB Will Herring
People like Will Herring are needed on the team, not as starters but one day they turn up for the game and end up recovering the Ambush onside kick, just like chris reis

Linebacker Will Herring signs a one-year deal to rejoin the New Orleans Saints
Will Herring, the reserve linebacker released by the New Orleans Saints on March 12 to trim salary, has rejoined the team. Herring signed a one-year contract, Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis announced Thursday.
Herring, a six-year veteran who spent the last two years with the Saints, is a valued backup who contributes on special teams. Last season, Herring played in all 16 games (with one start) and had seven tackles. He also was tied for second on the team with 14 special teams tackles. Before his release, Herring would have held a salary cap number around $1.9 million. But the Saints saved $1.6 million in cap space by releasing him. Herring originally signed a three-year deal with the Saints in 2011 and was given an opportunity to win a starting job during his first season. But he never moved into the starting lineup on a permanent basis. Herring compiled 22 total tackles and one interception during his two seasons in New Orleans. "Glad to still be playing for the best fans in the country!" Herring said via Twitter. Saints linebacker Curtis Lofton seemed happy to have Herring back in the fold. "Glad to be still playing with you bro," Lofton tweeted after news of Herring rejoining the Saints broke. Linebacker Will Herring signs a one-year deal to rejoin the New Orleans Saints | NOLA.com |

Herring is a good signing. He is a good special teamer and we desperately need players who can contribute if we hope to get better in that dept.
