Because there was a reason we let him go... And it wasn't the cap.

That's all fine and dandy. Winfield is 35... I'd take him before Porter, at the right price, but not before Asomugha. He's a quality enough player in the short term, but not at all elite, and way too old to expect anything but regression. I think this would be a last resort.

Nnamdi is still young enough that he could return to form and actually be with us for more than a year.

35 and counting, we can't be this desperate for corner help when there are still names out there not getting any love, micheal huff? ( mike Jenkins I don't think rob wants him though)

I'll always love Porter!
I just don't like hiring someone for nostalgia's sake. If he can at least contribute in Dime packages I'm all for bringing him back (for vet's minimum.):p

Re: Is Antoine Winfield is a better fit than Tracy Porter?

I love what Winfield brings to a defensive backfield, especially when it comes to his tackling - he is the best tackling CB in the league in my opinion.

But during the last two seasons, his downward curve has been apparent with the Vikes, and what has been even more troublesome is that his body doesn't seem to be able to accommodate his violent playing style any longer. He spend a lot of time in the tub during the past two seasons, and when he was on the field, he was often playing with a lingering injury which naturally negatively affected his performances.

He is/was a truly great CB, but I have my doubts whether he'd be the right pick for the Saints at this point in his career - love the guy though.

Because we saw his play in 2011.

Winfield is a short term gap filler. And he could be just what our ypoung corners need.
btw: Why haven't we resigned Mack?

Seems like we could put either name here...
