Yeah, that's SkyMike, our official social director....Thanks Mike for organizing and hosting all of us again at the Swamphouse. We had a great time as always and everyone got their fill of crawfish for a while. Great meeting SloMo who is probably driving back to Michigan right now. Let me know how your crawfish boil in Michigan turns out. You can't go wrong with the seasoning that Rob gave you. If you need any help with that, let me know.

I guess the next meeting of the HouDats will be on August 25 at Reliant Stadium for the preseason game. Hope to see all of y'all there!

Re: Its Time: MUDBUGS IV !!!!!

"Ain't No Party Like a Hou-Dat Party" ...
... just got back several hours ago, I took it a little easier driving back, actually stopping to rest, .

I dunno' if I can fit this all into one post ... what a great time I had and what a great group! I enjoyed meeting everyone and I gotta' thank SkyMike, Ms. SkyMike & their kids for welcoming me to their home.

It's not that hard a place to find ... minutes off I-10 and an ideal location for just such a function ... and if ever a house fit a homeowner's personality, it would be SkyMike & his house ... it's just a perfect, natural fit.

So, the first people I meet are SkyMike & Boilmaster Rob from Kajun Kooking setting up in the front yard. While introductions are going on, OldMaid (who is neither 'old' or a 'maid', ) drives up, then HouYat & Ms. HouYat, Gulfgambler & Ms. Gulfgambler, Lynwood/Ms. Lynwood & Son, Budsdrinker/Ms. Budsdrinker, Halo/Ms. Halo, Smashmouth/Ms. Smashmouth, the trumpet player, the guys from fishing, the neighbor & her son, the group in the middle ... am I getting everybody? People were just poppin' in ... a lady from New York. What a bunch! It's easy to see why you enjoy hanging around together.

I get the honors of sampling the spice from Boilmaster Rob ... I knew I was in for a treat. Even with that little sample, my whole lower pallet started to heat up ... microbrews & local brews from Lynwood, HouYat & Gulfgambler helped with that, not to mention my own "icy-cold, bohemian-style beer" which I knew would be just as good at a crawfish boil as it was for the boys at Shawshank tarring that roof, .

Boilmasters Rob & Bruz had me up by the pots, explaining the process & answering all my questions. Rob even gave me a bag of his own, personal spice mixture to ensure I get it right when I try this at home. I'm ready.

The food ... you guys were right, no ketchup necessary ... I feel dumb for asking, . The crawfish were simply the best. Don't know if it's due to the purging, the seasoning or just the way it is, but I honestly don't think I'll ever be able to look at a northern crayfish the same again. I've always called them "little freshwater lobsters" when describing them to people, but this is the first time they really actually tasted like that. What flavor! And the smells! The sausage, the mushrooms, the garlic, the redskins, the corn ... the desserts ... the music ... I was pretty happy with my first official "Mudbugs". Good food & good friends, .

Below is my souvenir stash, my beads, my spice mix & my "crawfish" shot glass, compliments of Ms. HouYat, who was so polite and persistent in correcting this poor carpetbagger's mispronunciation of "crawfish" (we call 'em "crayfish"). I think it finally may have stuck! .

You guys are the best. It was 100% my pleasure.

Re: Its Time: MUDBUGS IV !!!!!

First of all, thanks SM for providing a crazy ass place for our crazies........
Thanks to Mrs. SM (Casey) for allowing us to let it all hang out at the SwampHouse.

Rob, great job, and you did it on fumes...........man that was some great TAIL.

Slomo, quick shakin' you head. Yes we are that crazy about out fans and our team. Hope you had a safe ride home (some where by Canada I think). Don't be 1 and done, come back.

The weather was a little warm for a BOIL. That aint **** for what were going to get in August. Has anyone got one of them tents w/ walls & windows and AC.............?

I am sorry I missed all of you...it started with this...

Houston Saints Fans...Let's organize!
Since there will be a much larger number of us here in Houston thanks to that *&^%$ Katrina. Where do y'all go to watch games?
I am going to be living off of 290 & Barker-Cypress by the fall. I think if we can pick one (or two places 'cause Houston is so darn big) and all show up in our Saints gear we would get much better treatment. All that Black & Gold spending their "green." Let's keep this thread alive! Once I get some suggestions I'll set up a poll. So who's in?
